Tuesday Message: Going with the flow

Good morning lovies,

I'm not too sure what I'd like to say in this post to be honest, but I'm at a very interesting stage in my life at the minute, and have been having quite a lot of thinking and mulling over sessions. Ha. Such an understatement!

But basically, I've really come to notice just how much I always seem to be looking forward. Always thinking about the next step, always planning my next move, worrying about what might happen, and even what won't happen! Why are we constantly wishing our lives away?

What happened to just, dare I say it, going with the flow? Not too sure what a flow even is, but I like the sound of it. Sometimes, it should just be enough to look at the now, not tomorrow, or what happened yesterday, but just one minute at a time. Overthinking and worrying about something that hasn't even happened is only going to ruin the now, and you'll only end up regretting the time and energy you wasted over nothing!

So guys and gals, this week we're going back to basics. We're totally going with the flow.

(P.S, I totally wrote this post as a Monday Message, and then realised it's Tuesday. Ah.)

REVIEW: Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

Good afternoon little ones,

Today's post is going to be a review of Urban Decay's Naked Skin foundation. I picked this up around three weeks ago, and this has been one of those foundations that I have been dying to try.

I picked up the foundation in shade 3.0, which in hindsight was a little too light for me. I'm an absolute nightmare to match for foundation, because my face is oddly paler than the rest of my body.

So, my initial thoughts were that the foundation is incredibly long-wearing. This isn't normally something I look for in a foundation... obviously it wouldn't be ideal if a foundation were to slither off your face at any given moment, but I never normally have any trouble with foundation wearing off throughout the day. I have combination skin, with a slightly oily T-zone, and this foundation honestly prevented any shininess and did not make my skin feel oily or congested. Win.

I also liked how the foundation felt incredibly light on the skin, but still had the right amount of coverage. The consistency of the foundation was a little messy if I'm honest - it's quite liquidy (if that's a word), which was fine once on my face, but a little tricky when applied to my hand.

It has a slightly more matte finish than I am used to. Normally I opt for dewy/satin finish foundations, and although this was not completely matte, it definitely isn't a foundation that is going to make you look super radiant and glowing.

Things were going really well with this foundation, until I went on holiday. Naturally the shade became far too light, which was fine, but I found that it really stuck to parts of my face that had dried because of the sun. It looked flakey, and totally different on drier areas.

So, in hindsight, I would definitely recommend this foundation to someone with combination/oily skin, but from my experience, I would avoid this if you have dry skin.

Not quite found a foundation that trumps Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk or Lancรดme Teint Miracle yet!

Have you tried it yet? I'd love to know what you all think!

A.

Monday Message

Hi loves,

Today's post is something a little different than you're all probably used to reading on here. I guess my mood today is somewhat reflective, and my morning commute sparked some thinking which I couldn't help but share with you guys.

Photo taken from pinterest

I've pretty much always been someone who naturally always sees the negative in situations, and have always been concious to fill my mind with positive mantras and messages. I really do believe that you get what you give out, and if you do your best to see things positively, and to always see the good in life, this will return positive things back to you.

Yesterday, I read some news that deeply saddened me. For the sake of privacy and respect, I won't say what this was on here, but it really hit home and made me stop and think about life, and what's really important. The initial shock and sadness soon turned into anger, and I found myself incredibly frustrated at how bloody unfair life can be at times. How can there be so much bad in the world? And how can innocent people be subjected to so much pain and suffering, when there are seriously bad people roaming around with perfect health and not a worry in sight? Normally I would simply brush thoughts like this off, and leave it in the hands of karma, but sometimes it's just not enough, and it just doesn't seem fair.

We all spend so much time worrying about insignificant, minor details and not enough appreciating how fortunate and lucky we are to have happiness and health. As beautiful as life can be, it can also be taken away in an instant, and this has really made me change my attitude towards things. Instead of sweating the small stuff, and worrying about useless things we cannot control or change, as of now, I'm going to let all of the bad stuff go.

When there is so much sadness and suffering going on in the world, worrying about why someone sent you back an arsey text, or moaning about having no money left until payday doesn't seem quite right...

Review: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

Oh wow, it's been a while hasn't it? The last couple have months have been one huge work filled blur - man have things been busy!

Working six days a week, alongside trying to write a university dissertation has most definitely not been fun, and boy have I missed writing for this little blog.

Today's post can't be too long, as my uni deadline is tomorrow, but I just logged on to see if anyone was still around on here, and just couldn't leave this little haven neglected for any longer. I'm reviewing the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation today.

This is a foundation which has most definitely been raved about for a while, but having been quite comfortable in my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation bubble for some time, I was a little late to the party.

I had huge hopes for this foundation - I opted for the Vitalumiere Aqua, as this was the best out of the Chanel range for a luminous, dewy finish. Despite having combination skin, I really hate how matte foundations look on my skin, so I always opt for something with a dewy finish.

So, here are my thoughts:

First things first, the texture of the foundation is more like a BB cream, rather than typical liquid foundations. Although it felt a little heavier on my skin than other foundations, the consistency of the foundation itself didn't bother me too much!

The coverage is medium but buildable - I found that one layer was perfect for every day use, but for nights out, I found myself reaching for other foundations for a little more coverage.

I felt that I was using quite a lot of foundation each time I used it - maybe it's because of the texture of it, but I found that 2-3 squirts (only word that would work I'm afraid) would just about cover my face!

The price of £33 isn't too steep for a Chanel foundation, but personally, I think other foundations such as the Luminous Silk foundation, are much better value for money. Overall, I think it's a nice little foundation to have in your make-up bag, but I wasn't overly blown away as I thought I would have been!

Have any of you guys tried it? Let me know your thoughts!

NEW IN: Anastasia Pro Series Contour Kit

I know I am way behind on this, but I finally managed to get my hands on the Anastasia Pro Series Contour Kit in December, after many months of scouring the internet, and signing up for endless 'restock' notifications. I actually found this one on Cult Beauty, here, with a little discount too, so I guess it was worth the painfully long wait!

Can we just take a brief moment to appreciate the sheer beauty of this little one? Just look at it!

Coco for Chanel

I can pretty much say that I've dabbled into most beauty brands, but Chanel was just one of those I'd never gotten around to trying. So, when the frantic 'christmas list request' text arrived from my momma, I couldn't help but sneak a few products on there.

It's a hair thing: 5 products I can't live without

From the infamous Jennifer Aniston bob, to the classic Kim Kardashian centre-parting and waves, I've always had a thing about hair. Maybe it's because I've always hated my fine hair, and annoyingly wispy hairline, but for as long as I can remember, I've always been so particular about it. Full, thick, and bouncy hair has always been a dream of mine, and as a result, I think I've had a fair go at trying out pretty much most of the hair products out there.
