Product review: YSL Poudre Compacte Radiance powder

I’ve never found face powders particularly ground-breaking – maybe it’s because they’ve never really been a huge part of my make-up routine, but I couldn’t understand how people could pay anything up to £40 or more, for something that doesn’t make a huge difference to your make-up.  Aside from those who rely on a good face powder to combat problem areas which are prone to oiliness, for example, I guess I didn’t think I would ever need to use face powders.

Taken from the Debenham's website

To say I was wrong, was a huge understatement.  I picked up the YSL Poudre Compacte Radiance – a matt and radiant pressed powder, on a whim, having been sucked in by the beautiful packaging, and a nifty promotion.

I’ve  played around with a few drugstore powders in the past – the most memorable probably being the Rimmel ‘Stay Matte’ powder, which did the job, but looked almost chalky on areas that were not prone to oiliness, so I’d placed a lot of faith in this product before purchasing.  Boy was I right to, I can honestly see my money’s worth in this product.

From the smooth, velvety finish, to the fine, virtually undetectable consistency, this product is an absolute gem.  I usually avoid the matte base look on myself, as I find that it’s nowhere near as flattering as a velvet or dewy finish base, but I have ventured into dusting this powder all over my face, instead of focusing solely on the T-Zone, just because it is such a pleasure to wear.
Usually one to suffer with an oily t-zone which can become shiny towards the end of a day of wearing make-up, I’ve noticed zero shine since using this powder, which is definitely one of the biggest advantages of using this powder.

It is pricey, at around £35 (Debenhams, where I purchased), but it is honestly so worth it. I realise that this review is verging on sounding like something in between a QVC promo video, and a sponsored ad, but I can promise you this is just my honest opinion.

If you’re looking for a powder that actually works, feels luxurious on your skin, and is long-wearing without feeling heavy and cakey – you have it right here.

A 21st in Paris...

I was lucky enough to be spoilt rotten by my sister for by 21st birthday last month, and be taken to Paris for the weekend. I've always had a thing about Paris - from the Fashion buzz it seems to have, to the food and tourist spots, it's just always been somewhere I've wanted to visit.

We had just under two full days in Paris, and we spent the Saturday sight-seeing around the city, and on Sunday, I was taken to Disneyland! Before anyone judges, no, you're never too old to go to Disneyland!

I was honestly blown away by how magical that weekend was. I've travelled quite a bit in all my years, and have been lucky enough to see some incredible places, but I can honestly say that Disneyland Paris has swiftly entered my top 5 places!

I don't think that I will be able to do Paris or that weekend any justice, so I think it's best if I try and show you with some photos...

Re-discovered love: Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturiser

I'm not sure if it's the Winter weather, or the post-travelling skin frenzy, but my skin has literally gone into meltdown! I would like nothing more than to walk around with not a single scrap of make-up on, and to bathe my face in ice cold water, but unfortunately, life goes on!

So instead, I've been trying to be a little more selective with the make-up I'm wearing, to give my skin the break it's so desperately needing! This means throwing out any heavy foundations, powders, and concealers out of my make-up bag for a little while.

6 things I took to Paris!

I'd not quite anticipated the extent of a challenge it would be to pack for a weekend away to Paris. Usually, packing for a week long holiday is not a problem - 23kilos, and a huge case often leads to the 'I might need it, chuck it in' approach. But, in this case, I had 10 kilos, a small case, and a weekend's worth of activities ranging from sight-seeing to Disneyland to pack for.. what a nightmare.

Review: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Hello loves,

I hope you’re all well!! I’m back with another review for you all today! As many of you may already know, I am a bit of a foundation Junkie – and as a result, have tried quite a lot of both drugstore and high-end foundations. I’ve found that recently (probably in the last year or so) my skin type has changed, and is typically more oily. I’m not sure why it’s changed, and it hasn’t effected my make-up routine as of yet, it’s just made me a little more hesitant to wear heavier foundations.

Review: Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil

Hello loves,

So today I wanted to talk about a product that I’ve picked up recently from Shu Uemura – the Porefinist Cleansing Oil. As you all know, I’m a bit of a skincare junkie, and I previously used the Clinique Cleansing Balm (here), which was a fantastic product at removing make-up, but this didn’t compensate for the sore and burning eyes each time I used it - so I’ve been on a bit of a cleanser whirlwind ever since.

With the smallest size starting at £30, I was slightly sceptical as to how this product could be so different from any other cleansing oil, so naturally I just had to buy it.

October Favourites

Hello loves!

Today's post is miraculously ahead of schedule, who'd have guessed it eh? October has been absolutely make-up crazy for some reason, I've spent far too much money than I should have, and I've been loving the more autumnal make-up looks. So, without further ado, here are my October favourites!

Autumn make-up tutorial using the Anastasia Amrezy Palette!

Autumn is officially upon us, and I couldn't be happier! Autumn is undoubtedly one of my favourite seasons... partly because its my birthday in November, and I love Halloween and Bonfire night! Nothing beats the crunch of autumn leaves below your feet, and a pumpkin spice Starbucks latte!

So naturally, I had to film a little tutorial for you all! I've been wearing this look literally every day! I love warm browns, and metallic gold eyeshadows to add a pop of colour, and the Amrezy palette is literally the perfect palette for me!

You can watch the tutorial here:

Please show me some love! I'd love it if you could subscribe and like!

Lots of love!
A.
